Do I need an appointment?

Yes. Tattoo appointments can be made and must be confirmed with a minimum  deposit of $200 for small pre-drawn or custom work. For large tattoos that require a full day sitting or multiple days, a minimum deposit of $400 is now required. This deposit is carried over to your last sitting. A weeks notice MUST be given if you need to change your appointment, otherwise your deposit will be forfeited. If you decide to change your initial design concept you will be required to leave another deposit. Please note that the deposit you leave does not entitle you to any rights over the drawings that I prepare for you.

Can I bring my own design or idea?

Yes. Being tattooed is all about self-expression, but make sure you have a firm idea or a selection of reference images (style, colours etc) for the artist. It allows you to articulate your vision clearly and makes for a productive consultation.

How much does it cost?

Cost depends on a number of factors, including  time, size, placement, complexity and style, which all contribute to the final price.
For smaller designs I start at a minimum price of $200.

Does it hurt?

The level of discomfort varies tremendously and depends on each individual and placement. To ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible make sure you are well-fed, rested and feeling good naturally – the best state of mind to experience the tattoo process.

Can I get a tattoo if I am under 18 years of age?

Sorry, We do not tattoo people under the age of 18, Not even with parental consent.

Is it safe?

Yes. At Tatu-Lu’s, every instrument that is used is either single use (all needles are single use and disposed of within Health Department regulations) or ultrasonically cleaned, scrubbed, rinsed, individually bagged and finally autoclave-sterilised. All washes, soaps and disinfecting solutions used are also as per Health Department specifications. To further prevent cross-contamination, all equipment touched between individual clients are protected with disposable plastic covers.

The studio has a separate sterilising area with an "approved one direction flow method" and our autoclave unit is spore-tested and regularly calibrated as per State Health Department guidelines. Tatulu’s checks Health Department updates regularly for the tattoo industry and changes are implemented immediately and our sterilisation procedures are second to none.

How do I care for my new tattoo?
Your tattoo will last a lifetime, however it is fragile in the first few weeks, so care and respect needs to be exercised. Tatu-Lu’s has taken the utmost care in ensuring your tattoo is done with precision in a friendly and hygienic environment. Now it's your turn! You will also be given the following aftercare sheet upon completion of your tattoo to take home with you.

TATTOO AFTER CARE

Day One

1. Take the covering off in approx. One hour.
2. Wash with hot water and soap. Pat dry, do NOT rub.
3. Apply a thin layer of Bepanthen cream.
4. You do not need to re-cover, however avoid all tight synthetic clothing.

Week 1-2

1. Wash twice daily with warm water and soap
2. After each wash, apply a thin layer of Bepanthen cream.
3. Your Tattoo will form a scab a few days after being done. This scab will fall off gradually by itself. It is essential that you do not pick at, scratch or rub at your tattoo as this is the healing process and you can damage your tattoo by doing so.
4. Avoid any baths, spas or soaking of any kind as this will waterlog the tattoo and scab. Also avoid salt water.
5. Avoid direct sunlight. The sun is what ages your tattoo and skin. As a precaution always apply strong sunscreen when in the direct sun.

Finally

The way you look after your tattoo during the healing process seriously affects the overall outcome and look of your tattoo. If you have any questions or concerns about your tattoo please don’t hesitate to call me for advice on 0404 142084.

TRAVELLING/FLYING IN!?

A few tips: * The studio is located in Alexandria, Sydney, a short 15 min drive from Sydney International and DOMESTIC airport.
I would recommend local Air BnB for accommodation. There are hotels as well, but most clients have found local Air BnB's as closest and most appropriate.
